How long have humans been growing and using marijuana as medicine?

Read about the cannabis sativa remains found in 2500-year-old tombs in China! A cache of flowers and leaves were found in Xinjiang in Western China. The remains were consistant with modern medicinal cannabis. Cannabis has been utilized for 10,000 years as fiber, but was eventually cultivated for its medicinal and psychoactive properties. Finding these floral remains provides physical evidence to marijuana's ethnobotanical significance at the time. Dr. Ethan Russo also has written extensively on the history of cannabis use. Cannabis sativa is possibly one of the oldest plants cultivated by man....

Professional Growers, Medical Cannabis Quality and Testing

Our growers are always local growers, legal medical marijuana patients or their providers, operating within the law in Washington State. Our product is thus always produced indoors in a controlled setting. Our product is safety tested to guarantee it is free of pesticides, molds, fungus and other undesireables.

Many of Green Buddha Patient Co-op growers were instrumental in forming the Association of Medical Marijuana Producers and Processors or AMMP in 2010. AMMP is the first Washington State trade association for medical marijuana professionals and in November 2011. AMMP filed as a federal non-profit organization making it the only one of its kind in the country at present.

AMMP and our producers are working together to strengthen community gardens and to produce the safest medicine available to those authorized to possess and use medical cannabis products. Patients are assured that AMMP tradmarked medicine has passed through testing for properties that might be harmful to them as patients. Currently Green Buddha only accepts AMMP members, or growers who adhere to AMMP standards, and who have their medicinal products safety tested (checked for microbial contamination, pesticide residue, visual impurities, etc.). If you are interested in growing for Green Buddha Patient Co-op please contact us only by email. Your product must be tested and we will encourage you to join AMMP to ensure you have the highest quality medicine.

What is involved in the testing of medicine for Green Buddha Patient Co-op? Our growers through AMMP have partnered with Northwest Botanical Analysis to provide testing which insures the product meets Patient-Ready (TM) standards. This means that our medicine is not only tested for cannabinoid results but more importantly our medicine is tested for safety - meaning organic, mold and fungus free, free of pesticide residue and free of environmental contaminants.
